We had a gi appointment on Thurs for Justin and it went well. They pulled the pic line so we were able to stop the TPN and antibiotics. He finally was able to tolerate his feeds and also able to eat orally. The doc felt that he was getting enough calorie intake so that is why no more TPN.

Justin is still having delays with his bowels and it is fustrating him. He was doing better last week but the last two days his oral intake has not been that good because he feels full all the time. He is still not passing his bowel on a regular basis even with the stimulants. I am having a hard time with him because he wont take his feeds refusing to let me start them. He wants to go back to school eating orally and not on the pump.

I am going to give him a couple days and if he is not taking enough in orally he will have to go back to the pump. The doc really feels that all of the issues are related to motility issues that have now moved to his bowels. At this point he seems to be doing okay on the zelnorm and the erthyromicn but I have not seen a great difference.

Overall he is doing so much better than four weeks ago when this all started so that is a good thing. The only thing that makes me nervous is that the problems can happen again just as his other motility issues do. I am just hoping that it wont be any time soon. I want to thank everyone for their support during his hospital stay and recovery.

That is good news, Melanie. I hope Justin gets to go back to school without the pump. It has to be hard for him to be away for so long.

I'm glad to hear that things are improving for Justin. I hope he continues to do better and eat a little more orally. Hang in there

That is good news Melanie! How great that he wants to go back to school without the pump. He is a trooper for sure.

Did they figure out what was causing the motility issues to begin with? I am sorry as I may have missed a thread on this. I recall his bowels were just not moving at all when he was in the hospital but was wondering if they figured out why yet and what the game plan is for it.

It is great that he wants to go back to school too. It must be hard for him to be away for sure and he must be foaming at the mouth to have some interaction time with kids his own age again.

**high five for all your hard work**

Wow Melanie! I'm glad I popped into this forum today. Such good news! I can understand why Justin wants to go back to school eating orally. I hope that you're able to get his bowel delays cleared up.

I'm so glad to hear that Justin is doing better, but it must be hard to have him refuse feeds. I'm sure it's difficult for him to feel different from the other kids.

I am so late because we moved but wanted to check in Justin. I am glad he is doing better! I am sure he is frustrated and you are frustrated trying to work it out, I hope you guys can get him fixed up good so he won't need the pump when he goes back to school!
