Please help...my son has been NG Tube feeding for the past three weeks now...the last few days he has been throwing up his feeds (he is a silent refluxer). We have the flow going very slowly...we just switched him to Gentlease...could that be it?
What to do? He is 3 months old and only weighs 8 pounds...he can't afford to throw up his feeds...
When did you switch? What was he on before that? Have you called the ped? Does he have a fever or anything?

We switched him on Monday...from Nutramigen...he didn't seem to like that when we tried to give it to him via bottle...no fever...alert.
L will take about 15cc via bottle of the Gentlease and doesnt throw that up....don't know if its the tube causing all of the irritation and extra secretions!
Haven't called the ped...they just refer me to the GI...can't talk to the GI directly have to leave a message w/ his nurse practioners who don't return calls till after hours!

My son was not a silent refluxer, but the NG tube seemed to make him throw up even more than usual. My theory was that he started to reflux a little bit, he'd become irritated by the tube moving in his throat and send food back up for sure.
Maybe you could offer the Gentlease by bottle and Nutramigen by tube since he doesn't have to taste it that way? Hope the GI has some suggestions.

Hi and when my son was on a ng tube made him vomit worse. He didnt tolerate the tube very well, it irriated his esophagus and did cause more secretions in him.
I would call your doc and let them know what is going on. I was also wondering where in PA you are located and where do you go for your gi care? I am from PA also.

We are in Buck County and are seeing Dr. Kevin Kelly. He is supposed to be the best in the area but we have had a hard time getting his office to return phone calls.
Who does your gerdling see?

The GI is associated with Abington and Temple Childrens.
We live in Warrington.
Is there someone else that you suggest, Melanie?
