We were able to get in to the dentist with Jadce today. I think this dentist may be very good too. Well all of my suspicions were true. His chip was not a chip it is a cavity and he has 6 total. I told the dentist about his stumoch problems and he said that they may have contributed. He also has asidic siliva like my little sister. The enamel starting at his gums is starting to disolve. I just hope we do not become like some of the other kids I have herd about on this board. So first off for treatment is filling the cavities 2 by 2. Then maybe some kind of treatment to protect his teath where he has lost enamel. Over all today was a great trip to the dentist. He did not cry at all or even act scared during x-rays or the cleaning. After he took an x-ray with the big machine he asked "am I bigger now can I do the dishes?". Then while they were cleaning his teath he told the dentist the tooth paste was "disgusting". We did not leave the office with out some tears shead we could not get that lucky. He through a fit when I told him no he could not bring home a power ranger prize. He is not alowed to watch power rangers. So if he can't watch the show he should not have the toy.

Oh, how frustrating about the cavitities. Eli is 3 1/2 and I have not had his teeth checked. I am a bit afraid to as he was a huge puker and always smelled acidic!

I'm sorry to hear about the cavities! We had Evan's teeth checked (albeit briefly) before he turned 3, and then a regular appt. after his 3rd birthday...closer to 3 1/2 years. So far so good. I'm hoping he gets his teeth genetics from me, and not from dh, especially given the reflux.

THe acidty problem scares me. Shae-Lynne had to be put to sleep to have her teeth cleaned b/c she is tube fed there was some kind of build up on them. The next time she was ok without being put to sleep.

I think it is great that your dentist understand the reflux problem.

I am glad it went well, except for the cavity part! Chelsea has 2 that need to be filled but she freaks out when they try to clean them. She would need to be sedated to have the cavities filled and because of her history with respiratory problems, she would need to be sedated in the hospital. He didnt feel the cavities were progressed enough to put her through that. He is hoping that with frequent brushing and flouride treatments, we will be able to keep it from progressing and that when she is older, in 6 months, we can fill it the regular way in the office--he is assuming she will let them in 6 months. We'll see!

So since he wasnt scared, they can do it in the office the regular way? I didnt notice how old he is.

Hi,

We are fairly new to the group. Kayla has had to have extensive work done on her teeth. We thought it was related to the medications she was one, but now wonder if it might have been related to the Acid Reflux that had be undiagnosised. We are also worried how this acid will affect her new teeth that are coming in. The dentist had suggested braces at her next visit that will be in November. Now we will need to contact him about the acid reflux to see what can be done to protect her teeth.

I hope everything goes well for your child. I know it can be very scary for them, especially when they are so young.

Thanks

Diana
