Okay, so we have been going along quite nicely wiht feeding of solids.. the boys eat most things put in their mouths, although we still haven't got beyond finger foods and mashed dinners (meat & veges all mixed together).

ANyway, in the last 2 weeks Matthew has started spitting his food out after about 2 mouthfuls... I know they spit stuff out.. but for my guys it's usually when they've had enouh or don't like the taste. Matthew is spitting out everything he has previously liked and is becoming quite fussy in the sense that I can't offer him the same thing 2 days running... almost like he's sick of eating it...
He's spitting out lumps (whihc he hasn't done before) and just screams. Stephen still eats like a horse while this is all going on. I heavn't' "given in" to him.. it's like.. this is dinner and if you don't want to eat it, that's fine but there's nothing else on offer (he always gets pudding though).
So, is this normal behaviour for a 15 month old? Is he exerting his independence and starting to tell me what he likes/ dislikes??? I really don't want mealtimes to become a battle ground. I know lots of the literature states that you decide what and when they eat, and they decide how much..... but in all reality, he's hardly eating anything these days.. even his bottles only amount to 8oz a day. But he seems otherwise happy and is sleeping through. Maybe it's just a phase????
Any ideas?? Comments??

Gee, I am probably the last person to ask. I do recall a little bit of this going on with Walker but Curran hardly ever spit anything out as he loved food too much and was puking it all up anyway. Iain was not on solids other than purees at the age of 15 months and was a huge spitter. His reflux was still not under control and he would just intake (if we were lucky) and then sometimes chew and spit it all back out again. My experience for this is that it is reflux related but it is MY experience. If he is trying new textures or a progression and this is happening then I hope you can ride it out until he becomes used to it and then will swallow it down. If it continues then I would say he is refluxing and the reason you can not feed him the same thing twice is because he is refluxing it back up again and can no longer stand the taste. We went through that with Iain too.

If he is hardly eating anything at all these days and is just sticking to safe textures and safe foods my personal opinion is that it is time for a med check. :( Sorry.

In all likelihood it is indeed a stage. **crossing fingers**

Thanks Leigh... it's just so hard to figure out what is normal and what is not. And I know that I can't always compare what he does to what Stephen is doing *sigh* I will be taking the boys in for their jabs this week, so I giuess I'll ask about it then....
