Ugh...what a week it has been for feeding, up and down all the time!
Earlier, I posted about how good he was doing with the mesh feeder and some finger foods. Well, now it seems that he doesn't want to be fed the purees. He likes to hold the spoon so I let him to that, and then use another to sneak bites in. He'll take a few bites and then starts to cry or clamps his mouth up.
Don't know if this is related to his reflux flare up/formula switch...he didn't have any solids today and barely any yesterday. He's been taking down several jars a day for the past month or so!
What the heck?

Sarah started refusing the spoon around this time. She would rather pick things up herself. She can't handle finger foods yet so I put purees on celery sticks and carrot sticks and crackers shaped like sticks. She picks these thing up and gets the puree that manages to stay on. It is very messy but at least she gets some purees this way. you could start trying finger foods and see if he would rather feed himself. With Sarah I'm not sure if it is her DGE, reflux or just trying to be more independant with her eating solids.

I would try soft well-cooked finger-foods to see if he wants to feed himself. This is about the age that my older one gave up on purees and switched to just finger-foods. You can always just give it a shot to see if he likes them better.

I agree, try the Gerber Graduates, they are really soft cooked veggies and soft fruits.
I would say that since he is doing finger foods, he doesn't want the other "stuff" any more.
I used to do cooked macaroni noodles for my girls w/ butter on them, or, I can't think of anything else right now,
Keep us updated!!!

Thanks for all of the advice...I've been at a loss for what to try with finger foods. He doesn't really hold them all that well and hasn't figured out how to get them off the tray yet. I'll keep trying things, though.
This a.m. I managed to get some pureed Banana in him, he also munched on some pear in the mesh bag feeder, and a few oz's of his bottle.
I have to go to the store this weekend anyway so I'll check out the Graduates. I also have some baby carrots so I'll steam them good and see what he thinks.
Thanks again!!! :)

Just wanted to say good luck. Em has had tons of feeding problems so I'm not good at giving advice on feeding. :( Sorry.......
Let us know if he likes the graduates! :hello2:
It really sounds to me like he has had a taste of independent feeding now and likes it and it's certainly something worth encouring though I know how frustrating it can be trying to feed babyfood to a baby who wants to grab the spoon the whole time!

I'm wondering if teeth or maybe sore throat could also be accompanying the issue? Just a thought.
Zac has always aten his food like a champ, however...he refluxed ALL DAY long w/the purees. No pain, just constantly spitting up his food. That has stopped a few months back.
Maybe he is just exploring his independance and does want to feed himself. I'm a bit clueless...I apologize that I can't be of more help to you.
