well we met with the new allergist yesterday, and we have a few answers, although not really the ones i was looking for. Alexys had some allergy testing done, she tested positive for wheat and milk, and is having rast tests done again for soybean, egg white, oats, peanuts, rice, and corn. He also said he wants some immunology testing done, but both kids were screaming so i didnt really get to go into too much detail about what that involves. He said he isnt sure why the ped is trying to push her off formula and onto rice milk, that if the formula is working just to keep giving it to her. or we have the option to try and wean her onto calcium fortified rice milk, with vitamin supplements. He said most kids grow out of milk allergy by age 5 (58 percent..dont you love how they all have diff statistics lol) but that alexys has a very severe one and we shouldnt hold our breath, and to make sure we carry the epi pen with her at all times. We go back in 2 weeks.

Oh and also he said that a lot of allergy prone kids are allergic to tomato, citrus, choclate, and the additives benzate (sp?) and sorbate so we are to avoid those too. Um what am i feeding this kid now?????

First, I just have to tell you how much I love your sig pic!

Secondly, thanks for the update. We are about to see an allergist, too, and it's good to know what to expect. It's good that you got some answers, but I'm with you--what are you supposed to feed her??
When will you get the results of the RAST testing?

I'm glad you got some answers--I'll be anxious to hear if poor Alexys has anymore allergies/sensitivities *crossing my fingers that she doesn't!*

Thanks for the update, Amy! I'm glad that you're getting more answers with the new allergist. He sounds really good. About the food additives, BHA, BHT and monosodium glutamate (MSG) are a few other things that you might need to watch. Additives aren't just in the foods; they can also be found in the packaging, such as the plastic bags that cereal is in, and they can transfer to the food.

its supposed to take a week...and i thought this was interesting, everything i have heard up to this point was that allergy testing isnt very reliable at this age...but this dr says that in fact it IS very reliable, although it may still be necessary to cut out a certain food based on reaction no matter what the tests say.
