Is food texture an issue here? I need help Izaviaha is starting to teath and not on solids yet so I dont know what to do. He acts like a little puppy and wants to chew every thing. He will try to put any thing in his mouth (toys, blankets, and cloths mostly)But will only try once. I think he dose not like the diffrent textures. The only thing he will succesfuly chew is his hand. What can I offer to help ease his pain? When his brother was at this age I gave frozen bagles :donut: and teathing toast. but when it comes to food with Izaviaha he just dosent know what to do so I am afraid he would choke. He takes teathing tablets and tylenol. We have tried cold bottles and that seams to help untill the bottle is gone. I have given him cold teathing toys, wet wash cloths, and soft blankets he will put them in his mouth once and thats all. How ever he likes wipes but they are not safe to chew?? we found this out while changing he got a hold of the box now every time we change he thinks he needs one. any ideas?

What about muslin cloths? Or a pacifier? I know that bongela works really well here and so does a homeopathic spray called "teethmed". What about those gel packs you can get that you can either heat or freeze?? Or ice chips in those mesh feeder bags??
In regards to the texture thing.. I'm not too sure :dontknow:- sorry. I do know that Matthew hates slimey stuff... mashed bananas being a prime example.
Good luck and hoping Izaviaha gets some relief soon!

It's great that your son is so willing to put things in his mouth. That will certainly be one less thing that you'll need to deal with if there are texture issues. Sarah has already given you lots of great ideas of what to try. What about freezing a bit of water in a bottle nipple since he finds that so soothing. That way when he's done the bottle, you could just switch the nipple over, as long as he's not going to chew on it, that is.

Catherine loves to chew on wipes as well, especially the lavendar scented ones I buy, lol. I just give her one every time I get into the box ... diaper changes, general clean up. It sure doesn't taste good to me, but it's not going to hurt her any.

Regarding textures, Daniel used to gag an anything but purees, but now he prefers crunchy and chewy but won't touch slimey things. It's probably a good idea to continue to try to give him things like those bumpy teethers so he can get used to texture, but I guess since he dislikes them so much, it won't give him much relief for teething. We just gave D a dose of Motrin or Tylenol at night when we knew a tooth was working its way through. Oh yeah, there are also those cloth books with plastic, textured corners. maybe you could try something like that.
