So far so good! He hasn't even noticed the change in taste, which was a major issue when he was younger. And they say babies don't have taste buds!

We switched to regular formula over the weekend, after 7 months on Lacto-free. So far, so good, like I said!

Poor dh...he gets so confused! Yesterday, I came home from shopping and he was giving J a bottle. It looked awful thin to me. Dh explained that he had left out the rice cereal b/c that was what he thought we were doing now. Uh...no! I think J was okay, but he did sound a bit refluxy later in the day so I gave him some Mylanta. Not ready to try it w/out thickening yet!

I hope that the success with regular formula continues! I really never thought he was lactose-intolerant. The Ped said lacto-free was the sweetest and he was refusing formula after being bf. Plus, now I can buy it in bulk size at Sam's Club!

I just transitioned Aidin from Nutramigen to Gentlese myself. So far so good.

I think our next step will either be to regular milk by her 1st birthday or if I go by her adjusted age then maybe regualr formula might be our next step.

What kind of formula did you transition to?

We use Parent's Choice, which is sold only at Wal-mart. They were the only ones that made a lacto-free and it saved us a lot of money. ($16/can vs $23/can) So, I just picked up the standard kind from Parent's Choice. Seems to be good so far!

Great news about Aidan!

So its a still Lacto-free formula? Is it comparible to Gentlese by Enfimal?

Great news that you have transitioned and he takes it! It will take at least 2 weeks for the old formula to be out of his system and the new one to be in full effect. But so far so good... I have my fingers crossed for you!! :-)

Hmmm... I don't know much about Gentlease...you might check it out next time you are at Walmart or look it up on the Web. Here is their site.

Some folks may think it sounds strange to buy a non-brand formula. I did a lot of research before I made the switch from Enfamil. Formula is one of the most highly regulated things by the FDA so you are essentially getting the same stuff whether you buy the major brand or store brand. Just fyi...

Great news that he is doing so great. My SIL uses Parents Choice and her pedi told her it was just identical to say Similiac. I acutally know quite a few people who use Parents Choice. We can't and luckily Jackson doesn't take formula often as it is way more expensive then your regular milk based formula to get the milk and soy free. Good luck and keep us updated.

Wonderful news... just so you know, K always did well with a formula switch for about 5 days... then all h*ll broke loose lol :) I hope things continue to go well!! :) Keep us posted!!

FYI: Lacto-Free and Gentlease are NOT the same... Gentlease and Good Start are the same - partially broken down proteins...the Lacto-Free is milk based formula that has no lactose in it. It's made for babies who are Lactose intolerant.

As for Store brands, Miori is right, the FDA regulates formula and they MUST meet certain guidlines and nutrional requirements. The store brand, Target, Parents Choice and the like are no different than the big name brands... just read the containers.
