Camille is 7 months old and is only eating fruit now. We started with veggies and added friut, but now she will not eat ANY veggies. Before she liked sweet potatos and squash, (carrots were a big no! too much gas) now she will not eat it at all. I quess my question is this OK? We will keep trying the veggies but at meals where we do not offer them she eats so much more. She is still waking at least once to eat at night and is finally taking the bottle better during the day. I am just worried that she is not eating the "rainbow" that the Dr. suggested. Is it a big deal that she does not eat veggies? I know a lot of people said there little ones did better on table food what did you start them with? Can you tell I am a First time mom???

Thanks in Advance!!

sorry cant help you there, as I have the same issue with maiya. what veggies can I give her as most cause gas? And picky refluxers like their fruit. For normal babies, they say to not give too many fruits, as they are sweet and babes will not get to like other things. But what are we supposed to do with refluxers who need calories more than variety?

Maiya eats butternut squash, as it is sweet and buttery. I mix in a little carrot or sweet potato and breast milk, and she does not know the differene.

I think every baby prefers fruits over veggies as they are much more sweeter...I would cut out the fruit for a week and do veggies and see if that helps, then when you start the fruit again, give the veggie first...I had to do this with Andrew:)

My daughter started out eating ONLY fruit and would/could not eat anything else. Now she eats anything... though she eats table food and has since she was 7 months. What did I start giving her as far as table food? EVERYTHING lol Over cooked pasta, over cooked veggies - potatos, carrots, peas, squash, turnips (some kids like REAL veggies over the pureed ones - at least thats what my Dr told me), bread, waffles, pancakes, chicken, turkey, ground turkey and ground beef and fruit - Bananas are a favorite cause they are soft, apples and other stuff were harder to start until now (she has a couple teeth now). Once in a while my daughter still gets some baby cereal and fruit but for the most part she gets all table food.

Anyway, I suggest giving fruit at only one meal for now along with other stuff. Perhaps mix some in her cereal for breakfast and leave it at that. For lunch and dinner, I would offer a veggie. OR if you do want to give both at a meal do the veggie first and then the fruit... sooner or later she will learn to get through the veggie to get to the fruit lol :) hahahahaha You could take a break from the fruit though as suggested and see if that helps! :)

Hope that helps!! :) Good luck!!

Izzy is going through the same thing with meats right now. She will take veggies and fruit but no meats. Her nutritionist at her GI's office told us to very slowly mix her meats into her veggies....Start out with a very tiny amount and stay at that for a few days then add a bit more and a bit more and a bit more. She said babies need to acquire a taste for things and it helps to introduce it more slowly....Good luck!!

Thanks, for the advise! I think we will try cutting out some fruits during the day. I just hate it because I know she needs to eat! What ever it may be!

I've had the same challenge with Joshua. Lately, I've been mixing the two things...I put the fruit and veggie side by side in the bowl, and then put some in each bite. He's been going for it! Also, Gerber Tender Harvest has blends like Apple-Sweet Potato and Pear-Squash. He wolfs those down!

But, straight veggies, now way for right now!

And, he has no interest in table/finger foods at all!

I have the apple sweet potato, I have not seen the pear squash. I will be on the hunt! Thanks a ton!

I was gonna suggest the same, try and mix the fruit and veggies together and see if she will eat it, than you can always start adding a little more veggies to it until she gets used to it.

Jamie - the past few days I've been making my own creations. Pour fruit & veggie side by side in the bowl. Then, scoop right down the middle. Works just as well!

DOn't worry too much.. it's great she's eating solids, whatever it may be. I recently read an article in a parenting magazine that said eating just fruits was okay initially.. plenty of time to inroduce other variety into their diet as they go along. I would try mixing the fruits and veges together (sounds icky but does work).
