Hi all,

I've been asking for a DGE scan since November of 05. I was always told that since she doesn't vomit, that she doesn't have it. I was also told that her upper GI would have shown this. Thanks to all of you on this board, I knew that was not necessarily true, so we kept pushing for the scan. Since last year, we have seen three different GI docs and finally we get an emptying scan done last week.

Well, after 75 minutes, only 13% o f her stomach contents emptied. That's pretty slow. We're now on Reglan, .5 ml 4 times a day. I hope to god it works, although I'm doubtful given what I've seen on this board. The poor baby, she has an NG tube and vomited it up on the way to the doctor's this morning. We took it out and are hopeful that the Reglan will help get things moving so she wants to eat again.

I am ready to call the other two GI docs we saw before and read them the riot act. Why is it that I have to do their jobs for them?

thanks for letting me vent.

It's heart-breaking to think this should have been addressed months ago!!! I hope the Reglan works, but if not, remind the GI that there are other meds to try!

I am so sorry. I am glad you finally got the diagnosis though and I sure hope the reglan does the trick. Our son had major emptying problems and his was corrected with surgery. Ours was noted on the upper GI so we did an emptying scan soon after. And, our son is a puker.

I would definitely talk to the docs and let them know the diagnosis and that this could have been helped along time ago! How will they know if you don't tell them? It may change the way they practice. How frustrating for you!!!

Oh, and we used bethanechol and erythromyicin simultaneously because our docs won't use reglan. So, if you have any problems with the reglan you may want to look into those. Hopefully, the reglan will work well for you guys though:wink:

I hope the reglan works for you. That seems pretty slow. Sarah emptied 38% at 90 minutes. The erythromycin work for us for a time but it is no longer effective. We are woking on getting cisapride but it is going to take a long time. Did they tell you is kids generally out grow this? I am glad someone finally listened to you.
