Well we saw a pediatric GI on Friday. Noah has gone from spitting up 20 times a day (that we can see) to 70 times per day in the last 2 weeks. He thinks that scar tissue from the first surgery may be pushing the valve closed again. Has anyone else ever heard of this happening? We have an upper GI tomorrow morning and if that doesnt tell us whats going on they will do the scope. Just wanted to see if anyone else has ever heard of this.
Thanks,
Kristen

No advice here either. I gather that your child has had the sugery for PS? We have some members with experience for this and they will probably respond in the next day or so. If not, pm me and I will hunt them down for you, ok?

Good luck and be sure to let us know how the testing goes.

Poor thing! :( I know that one mother on here has a daughter who has had 2 pyloroplasties (sp?). I can PM her, like Leigh said, if she doesn't respond soon.

Let us know how the upper GI goes!

Good luck.

Now I have a few minutes to explain. Got hubby and Noah to sleep. When Noah was 7 weeks he had the surgery for pyloric stenosis. He was diagnosed with reflux at 2 days (thanks to me) and they hoped that it was just the pylorus, but after surgery he still had it. We have been controlling it with Zantec, Reglan, and prevacid. Then 2 weeks ago it just got worse. We went from spitting up 18-20 times per day to 70 yesterday. I am so ready for tomorrow to be here. I reallly want some answers. I didnt even realize he would ever have to possibly deal with this again...argh Well I better get some sleep. Only God knows what tomorrow brings.

My son had pyloric stenosis! Yes, I have heard of what you are talking about. Months after my sons surgery, he was diagnosed with his pyloric being borderline... basically still has issues. That being said, we are still treating the GERD aggressively with meds. Please feel free to respond with more questions or details about the procedures. We have been through almost all of them.

Miki had PS and still continued to vonit afterwards and sill projectile for some time when she had her ipper gi it showed that pyloris to be still too tight and rather that going in and operating again the GI did ascope and confirmed that yes it was swollen but was open enough for the food to pass through and that it was the servere reflux causing it

My sugestion would be get them to do a scope before operating again as during a scope they can do a pyloric ballon dialation and with this no incision is made or scar tissue

I have heard of PS recurring, but it is supposed to be extremely rare. We were afraid my son would be a good candidate for recurrence because he was only 2 WEEKS OLD when he had his pyloromyotomy. But so far, everything's staying nice and open!

Yes, it is very rare, but does happen!
