For those of you who at one point continuous fed or are currently continuous feeding - say overnight. How did/do you keep the peg tube connected to the bag tube?

It seems as though Christian is capable of "blowing" out this connection and then everything runs/leaks onto the bed while he sleeps. He is currently running at 43ml/hr over 8 hours at night. This doesn't happen all the time - but it sure makes a mess and causes him pain (because he is empty).

The medical supply company tells me that this disconnection is not possible unless it is me that is doing something wrong. We are using the kangaroo e-pump and the required bags for this machine. This happened even more frequently when he was using the entralite machine and bags.

Does this get any better with the button or do you have any tricks for me? These 1a and 4a tube blowouts are killing me. - again this doesn't happen all the time say once or twice a month and I dont' know what causes it.
Thanks for listening.

We just got a button last week but had a peg tube for 5 months. We went through this is was crappy. What we did was call our home health company and had differnt connectors sent out to us and tried them until we found one that worked. The only thing after that we had to deal with was we had a dual port and we had to tape the other port because Emily would blow that one out and it was the same thing. But it was sooo much better when we found a adapter that worked well. It even held up when Emily started crawling around and pulling it with her. I hope this helps a little. In the mean time what we did was tape the both sides together like crazy! It was not pretty but it worked and she stayed full. Hope it helps. Beth

We don't do overnight feeds, but Daniel still sometimes get disconnected from the bag if he gets a kink in his extension tube. It must be because the pump keeps going but there's nowhere for the formula to go and pressure builds up til the the extension tube and bag tubing pop apart.

I agree -- it's a huge mess and nightmare when you're pumping food into thin air and meanwhile dumping stomach contents.

Never had that problem--but I am sure it is a big mess to clean up. I have started the pump and forgot to close the med port and Sam was sitting in a puddle before I realized! I would think when you get a button it will not happen as much. when will you get the button.

We used to have the same problem. We'd tape it together like crazy but the only thing that really solved the problem was getting the button placed.

Hi

Yes we definately had the same problem alot!!! The only thing that worked for us was to get the Mick Key button..

Have you tried a different adaptor? We also have the Kangaroo Pump and use the bags, I found with the small 600 ml bags they attached better to the foley adaptor than the rigid containers or the big 1000 ml bags... Just a thought!

So sorry to hear your having so much probs... Hope you find something that works for you soon, we know how terrible it can be to be cleaning up formula and beds at 2 or 3 am...

Hi, yesterday I finally got a clamp, it is called an AMT clamp. works like a charm. It clips around the extention and then around the gravity bag end.
I got it because Larissa pulls the two apart herself, this will hopefully stop that.
