hi there, i was hoping to find other nurisng moms who might have accidentally noticed the connection i have between very good days and when i take an astragalus/ligustrum suppliment. i was terrified when dd was born that she was going to have reflux like ds, and at first she did, though never as bad. my step dad gave me astragalus/ligustrum to take for other things and i noticed after a day or to she stopped having almost any sign of reflux. i thought she had just grown out of it maybe. but there have been two times i stopped taking it and after one day off she begins to be very refluxy again. i get back on it and magically in aobut 2 days almost all symptoms disappear. i went off it for about 4 days this last time, just because i forgot, and then when she started spitting up and crying and nursing poorly i realized i hadn't take it in 4 days. i am really wondering if i am crazy and it's just cooincidence or what. i am hoping that maybe someone else has noticed this??? if it does work like it seems to be for me, this could really help some nursing mamas out!

Hi there! I have never heard of that supplement but I'm going to move this thread into the "Breastfeeding" forum under "feeding issues" so it will get the proper attention from nursing moms or moms who HAVE nursed. ;)

I, also, don't know of that supplement, but I do notice that some foods I eat do affect my dd. Of course, we have to avoid soy and dairy at all costs, but there are some things that trigger her GERD.

As for supplements, I've never tried that route, but I do know some moms who have. If it seems to work for you and it's safe, by all means continue! Unfortunately, many moms here have not had such phenomenal results from supplements, likely because their children's issues might be a bit different. That being said, I'm so glad it seems to be working for you. :-) It's wonderful when we find something that helps our poor little kidlets!
