I started giving my 2.5 year old ProBioDefense to help "kill" the yeast in her gut. She has been on antibitotics constantly since birth. Her doctor mention she might get stomach aches as the medicine kill off the yeast. Has anyone else's child experienced this that is taking a form of ProBiotic?

Alexys has been on baby dophilous for many many months...she is also on a much higher dose than most and we havnt seen any problems from it, not to say that cant happen though.

Cady's been on Baby's Jarro-dopholus for about 10 days. No issues here.

Complete opposite reaction here. :)

Within two days of taking Babydophilus Emma:
* Started having normal looking poops (sorry - TMI)
* Began lying on her stomach to play (NEVER did that before)
* Sleeping though the night occasionlly....only about once a week it happens, but I'll take it  and sleeping longer for her naps and at night

Emma has been on antibiotics 13 times in 12 months...plus she had thrush as a newborn and was on Nystatin and Diflucan for two months. I think it really messed up her system.

She's currently taking a daily antibiotic for her kidney issues so the GI told us to put her on it.

I wish we had started her on this sooner!!!

I'm really interested in this. I take acidophilis with every meal, and it does help my GI issues a bit, so I've always wondered if it would be okay to give it to Noah--just incase he could benefit from it.

Is it something I can just give him myself, or do I need to talk to the GI about it? (sorry to hijack:oops:)

I would call the GI and ask (to put your mind at ease...but I'm sure he'll say it's okay) but you can get it at any Health Food Store. Emma uses Baby Jarro Dophilus...I just shorten it and call it Babydophilus...

Here's the link.

Our GI said that this Solaray brand is good too.

Both are milk and soy free.

Thanks, Amanda. "Babydophilis" is a bit more catchy, anyways!

I second what Amanda said. Within two days, Cady had normal poops again and I could tell just felt so much better after she started the babydophilis.

We have had a lot of success with probiotics. Here there is a drink and one a day is recommended for both adults and childrens.

Cooper started because he was having ear infections and asthma, he hasn't had an ear infection since-touvh wood. Parker has been on it 3 months and I have seen it harden his poos to normal, hasn;t had an ear infection since starting- touch wood. I haven't seen any problems with both in the tummy.

Funny enough if I have an upset tummy, I have one and within 20minutes it usually settles it.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like probiotics is working for everyone. I hope I have positive results for my daughter.

Rachel... I was wondering what "touch wood" was and then I figured it out. In the states we say "knock on wood"... it's funny how things vary.

So girls, what was the reason your kiddos went on probiotics? I, like Maggie, wonder if it's something Lauren should have also?

My daughter is starting probiotics b/c she has been on antibiotics pretty much since birth. She has yeast in her stool which is a result from all the antibiotics. The probiotic will help kill the yeast and keep her insides healthy.

Cady was put on probiotics to help her gut heal from being on frequent antibiotics for the past three months and the wear and tear on her gut from her milk allergy. So far, so good.

Alexys went on priobiotics because of her cdiff infection, and countless rounds of antibiotics.

Interesting thread.....The GI has just recommended I put Mason on Culturelle, a probiotic. he has not been on anti-biotics though so I wonder about it. She said that c-section babies tend to have their "flora" (whatever that is) messed up and the pro-biotic helps. He DID have thrush at one point and was on Diflucan....I guess we will see.

P.S. I hate to ask this as I am sure it will be the dreaded "2 weeks" lol....but how long does it take for this stuff to kick in?

Mirra, Just wanted to let you know, if Mason has MSPI you may want to try a different Probiotic. We were told to use Culterelle and after I bought it I looked on the box and it has dairy and soy in it. I'm not sure how much it contains so it may not even bother Mason but Connor reacts to even trace amounts. Just thought I'd let you know before you went out and bought it.

Hmmm, interesting. She was very specific about me using that one too, lol. I will go with it but keep my eyes out.
