We started Flovent 2 days ago and last night was horrible! I may be grasping at straws here but could the Flovent cause him to be fussy? I swear I remember his Pulminologist saying that it could butthe appt. was so long ago and we've been to so many Dr's who knows. I'm seriously thinking of putting him back on the Pulmicort as he did fine on that (except for fighting me really bad with the mask:banghead:) Any thoughts?

Iain and Curran are on the flovent and ventolin. Iain was a bit fussy at first when we started it and sometimes I am unsure whether or not it has caused him to have problems sleeping, but the benefits have outweighed the bad for him. It IS a steroid and can cause fussiness. Every child is different so if this trend continues I would ask the ped about it for sure.
Bear in mind flovent takes at least 4 days to become effective. Are you using it everyday? We did last year and at a high dose (150 I think as we have that and a 50 here, oddly the 50 was for Curran and the 150 was for Iain) and we did 2 shots 2X daily. It was a bit much at the high end for Iain but he did get used to it and settle once his breathing was better. Now we are supposed to be usuing it every day again but I am usuing a 50 shot dose 2X daily right now in an effort to wean him yet again. Do not wean without your peds permission though or stop it without telling them as it does take time for these meds to build up and you obviously need something for the little guy.
My ped and I discuss ranges and protocols all the time. Not all peds are as progressive with their thinking.

Thanks Leigh! I put him back on the Pulmicort as it has worked really well for us except for him hating the mask and trying to yank it off the whole time. I make DH practice his karate while I give Connor his treatment. (Don't ask me why but Connor thinks it's hilarious) So as long as DH is home to make an *** out of himself Connor will do just fine:D This was our 2nd go with the Flovent and both times it seemed to make him irritable.

I love the fact that your DH will make an idiot of himself to make Conner laugh for the treatments! We have done more stupid things to get the kids to relax when we are medicating them or trying to get Iain to eat... looking back I am so very glad that no one has been looking in the window.. or at least I HOPE NOT! LOL
Glad that the pulmicort is working well for him. We have not used it and have only used the flovent. I am going to ask for singulaire again for the summer I think as it was great last year and he now has the swallow for it.
Good luck!
