I am just curious as I do not quite understand the description section for these meds (what can I asy, I'm daft :P)
What exactly do they use these drugs for and when do they prescribe them? Is this something they try when PPIs fail (or in Mason's case, do not help enough). Or are they specifically designed to stop vomitting (therefore in Mason's case, useless since he is a silent refluxer).

None of them stop vomiting completely...From my understanding...Regaln is a motility drug, that moves things through their track a little more faster! I think in most cases it is prescribed for DGE.

Sorry to just drop a link and run, but here is the blurb on Reglan. It is a motility agent.

I am sure that someone who has experience with it will come along soon.

And, it works by causing the muslces in the stomach to contract and move the food through quicker, It will help reduce vomiting by getting the food out faster and for those who don't empty should aid in emptying.
I am sure Leighs link explained it but I know how hard it is to understand. Sometimes, you need to break it down into human words LOL I'm the same way.

Thanks Erin! I had to go and felt bad about just putting in the link and running but I had some kidlet issues to deal with. Plus, I have no experience with reglan.

No experience with Reglan either (except for 2 days....she started having side effects) so we stopped it.
Emma was never diagnosed with DGE, but her ped wanted to try it to see if it would help the vomiting. It did turn her into an eating machine those two days (still a puke machine though). She acted like a zombie though and it affected her sleep horribly. We stopped it immediately.
Does the GI want to try it with Mason?

I am going to move this thread to the DGE forum so that you may get people who are using this med to respond.

No, I was just curious as to what the med was used for exactly :)
