Besides Gerber having soy in there cereals is there any difference between the two brands? Does Gerber add more sugar? I've been using beechnut and like it but it's very hard to find and I'm tired of having to make a special trip to a grocery store just to get it.

I dont think there is a difference in the cereals other than the soy... now when you get into some of the foods I notice Gerber does add some sugar where Beechnut does not.

You could check out the ingredients and compare them online. :)

Hope that helps!

Hmmm... good question Kim. I would like to know as well. Our Walmart doesn't carry the Beechnut, I have to go to "Save a lot" which I don't shop at to get it. I'm like you, don't like making two trips.

Gerber baby foods...almost all second stage dinners have seasonings in them, garlic or onion powder, which I don't like for a baby. However, their cereals, boxed and jarred have soy in them, whereas Beechnut doesn't. As a whole, I like Beechnut better as you don't have to worry quite as much with allergens as they are more pure. I wouldn't feed Cady the Gerber dinners until after she turned one, because of all the seasonings they put in it. If you look at a jar of Beechnut st. 3 turkey/rice dinner, you see sweet potatoes, finely ground turkey, and rice. In a jar of Gerber turkey/rice dinner, there's a whole slew of ingredients. Overall for a baby with suspected allergies or diagnosed MSPI, Beechnut is the better choice. You still have to check their labels, but I have found more foods without dairy and soy in them in the Beechnut section, rather than the Gerber section. Hope this helps.
