My ped gave us the go ahead to start Austin on veggies at his 4 month checkup. We started with carrots and now I'm having a hard time determining if it is the carrots or his reflux causing us grief.

His puking has increased again but it did start increasing before the solids only now it is orange ( great for beige carpet! ). He is seeming to start the comfort feeds again ( I think). I will feed him a bottle and about an hour later his carrots and 2 hours he is screaming for food already! He has gotten VERY cranky lately. I only get like half hour naps out of him now ( which has been going on for a few weeks now). The day I started solids was also the day he got his shots (3 days ago) which he reacts badly to anyways.

Did starting solids make your refluxer worse?

Could he possibly need his meds upped? He is on prevacid 2 ml twice a day and weighs 14 lbs. 8 oz.

What is the best way to introduce solids to these little guys? (Should I wait longer after his bottle or give it directly after)

Do you have any other advice for me about feedings besides stuff that I have already mentioned? :help:

Oh and one more thing. We also haven't quite gotten the consistency of pooping right and are still plaing around with his miralax doses. Right now we are trying 1 1/2 tsp every day and adding an extra half tsp every other day. So are solids also going to mess this up?

And he may be teething too.

I think it might be coincidence...

one way to find out is take a break from the solids for a few days. See how it goes... carrots were a little rough for my daughter at first... she had squash for a long time, its all she could tolerate.

I say give it a few days and try again or switch to a different veggie.

Hope that helps!

We are in the same boat as you! I've been having a horrible time starting solids and trying to figure out if it's the solids causing his fussines! I asked our GI today and she said to take it very slow 1 new food per week and by the end of the week we should know. You could also take a break and go back and see if he reacts again. These little one's are so confusing!!!

You know, when I give Jackson a solid food, he is wanting a bottle soon after as well. **ON a good day**
I have found that green beans are not tolerated well here. But that is the only one. We haven't had problems w/any other ones.
Sorry that I couldn't help you.
Maybe an increase in med. is in order.

Jayden doesn't do well with carrots either. He has had them several times and always puke after?? Most every thing else seem to be good. He loves peas.
