I started giving Connor sweet potatoes a few days ago and he seemed to do ok but today he screamed all day. The last time I gave him any sweet potatoes was last night at 5pm. If it was from them wouldn't he reacted sooner? He was fine afterwards and only woke up 1 time for a bottle in the middle of the night.

Any other signs it disagreed with him at all? Rash, diarrhea, cramps? Food reactions can be delayed for more than a day, sometimes two so I would always look to the previous day to find any culprits. An allergic reaction is usually quite fast and is within a few seconds to a few hours after ingestion and includes nasal drip, itchiness, rash, hives, coughing, etc. whereas an intolerance would be more like what you described. It also could be just an immature digestive system trying to cope with the new food.

Give him a break for a week from sweet pototoes and then try again. If you get the same reaction then stay away for awhile (like a month or more) and re-try. Retry only if reaction does not seem to be allergic and is not moderate or severe.
