she HATES being dressed/undressed, diaper changed, loud noises and bright lights. she LOVES coloring and painting and playing in water and other textures. this will be the first summer we test out sand and hopefully this weekend we try playdoh.

Has she been diagnosed with sensory issues?

If not maybe bring that to your docs attention!

Good Luck

Most kids around her age, including Andrew who will be 19 months in a few days, do not like getting dressed/undressed/ and having their diaper changed..Alot of those things you have mentioned are normal for an child this age. I would bring it to the docs attention on the 7th though and see what they think!

but what strikes me as odd is she brings me the diaper all day long each time it is time to be changed especially a bm. she did fine with dress/undress until she was 7 months old when she stopped eating good.

there is a post floating around here somewhere about the getting dressed/undressed...it definetely is an age thing as the majority of kids had a problem with it, mine def still does, she will bring me the diaper but then after she gives it to me takes off. And at 14 mos Alexys is naked most of the time because it wears me out to get the kid dressed she fights so hard. I would bring it up to the ped, but I agree that it is a totally normal thing for most kids.

Daniel doesn't mind getting dressed or having his diaper changed or have noise or light issues, but he hates play dough and generally having to touch anything mushy. He always wants to wipe his hands when he's eating, say, goldfish crackers and the cheese dust sticks to his fingers.

An OT is the best person for recognizing sensory issues and helping you work through them. If your ped seems concerned, ask for an OT referral.

thanks again ... Eliana has been seeing a ST and OT since the end of January but will bring it up to her pedi as she has some other issues (just read the checklist at the top of this topic).

Andrew does the same thing..He brings me his diaper and wipes and then takes off...you have to chase the boy down!!!

I was going to say the same... Lauren hates getting dressed/undressed and definitely hates having her diaper changed... normal kid thing. My niece also hates loud noises and her ped did not rx her with any sensory problems.

Loud noises are scary to a lot of children. I'm jumpy myself and tend to startle very easily.

Welcome Jeannette! As the other ladies mentioned, many kids of that age don't like to be dressed or undressed, like to have a dry/clean diaper and don't like loud noises. I'm glad you are making good use of the checklist I posted. What other things did you note on it?
