I have a question so bear with my ignorance. Kylie is on Prevacid 2x day and Reglan 3x day and one bedtime dose. Now we have been prescribed a dose of Zyrtec at bedtime. Do motility meds decrease the effectiveness of other meds if given at the same time? Stupidly put - Does it just push the med through the body or does it absorb like it should? I just don't know where I can fit another med in her dang schedule!! Thanks for any help!:smt086
Sorry I don't know about this drug interaction, but just wanted to symapathis with you about medicine schedules. It's so difficult to get them right for these babies when they take so much medication.

I am sure she will get the effect from them all!
I have a mini pharmacy on my kitchen counter, so I know what you mean!

We have had no problems with the meds being pushed through the system without being absorbed in the kids systems. I have two on motility drugs and other meds and they do all their meds at the same time.

Thanks so much, I think there are so many variables to the reflux(different foods, meds, formulas, teething, colds) that sometimes I just make it more difficult on myself thinking waaaay too hard!

Hello, I am sorry I am late on this but I think they meds will all be fine together. Eli was taking 3 different meds 3 times a day and that was the musts, not including when he was sick or on antibiotics!! The reglan shouldn't effect the others but if you are concerned you can ask the pharmacist, did the prescribing doctor realize he would be taking all 3? I am sure it will be fine though:wink:

Certainly a very valid question and I agree it is one best answered by your pharmacist as they truly know best. I LOVE my pharmacist pool and trust them implicitly. They know more than most doctors do about drug interactions and often fill you in on subtleties the doctors do not even know about.
Good luck!

Thanks all so much. The pharmacist says space them out because it's never been studied as to what might happen if they are given together. However, the GI's office says no problem. I know what's happening when I can't give them together - I can't get all of the doses in and my child suffers immediately. So I have been and all is well. Thanks you guys for the reassurance that this has worked for others so I wasn't as scared to combine the meds. We all know Moms know quite as much if not more than some of the docs do ;)

Funny, when I had the same concerns I got the same different responses from GI and pharmacist. I say trust the pharamicist because they know all about the different drugs for different things and how they affect each other.
