I am full of questions today :P

Okay...so now that I have to warm his bottles instead of the nice ease I had with room temp, lol.... what do I do when I go out with him?

I do have a couple ice packs I got in his sample diaper bags from the hospital. So I guess I can use that to keep the bottles cold, what about heating? I have an old bottle warmer that plugs into the cig lighter, but my cig lighter in my car does not work and I do not even know if the warmer works.

I just so happen to be buying a car this month so I suppose I should make sure it works, lol. Is there any other options?

Can they drink ice cold formula? I doubt much Mason would care since he sucks down anything. Does it cause tummy aches ro anything?

If he still prefers his bottles warm then I would give him them warm still. When our kids still wanted warm bottles we put them in the diaper bag and either had a thermos with really warm water in it for the passenger to pour into a cup and then warm them up that way or we used the heat packs you buy to put in your gloves to keep your hands warm and put that in an insulated container with the bottles. Just crack them open to activate as you need them. Also, on longer trips I used a beaded heat pack (or a gel one) and put it in the microwave to super heat before the trip and it kept things warm, sometimes though a bit too much so.

Friends who have used the plug in one in the car rave about it so I think you would be ahead with that.

We use a Fisher Price bottle warmer which is a thermos flast with a large cup around it. it works really well and I recomend it.

can your baby have powder formula?
i can bottle of water and a small can of powder or scoop some into plastic bag. it takes about 2 min's and it's ready. the alimentum does not bubble up bad though when shaked to make. one handed typing. i have the car warmer and it's okay but don't forget to loosen bottle top. i liked the the thing you activate and then reboil to deactivacte, it has a neopream (sp.) cover.

I usually do the room temp thing and just shake in thepowder...but now that we are thickening it is difficult as it's very grainy. If I put it in the blenderit is a lot smoother, but then I have to fridge it and warm it. What a pain, lol.

What I did when Andrew switched to formula and we were on the go, I would put the powder in the amount of bottles I needed to take with me...Then Bring a water bottle filled with hot water, and by the time he needed to eat again, the temp was perfect and then I'd add it to the bottle...You can always try the bottle warmers, I never did, but I do believe they make battery operated ones to that don't need to plug into the cigarette lighter thingy???

Ditto to what Stacy said.. I di the smae thing. I took a flask of hot water, powder in the bottles and just mixed when ready... the hot water was never to hot.. and even if it was, there is always cold running water somewhere.......
At the malls, the parent's rooms are awesome.. they have everything you need anyway!

I gotta tell you, for a LONG time my hubby and I used the MIRACLE method of warming!! It gets a bottle right to body temperature in just a few minutes!! :) hehehehe

We would either pull the bottle out 30 mins before she was going to eat

or the Miracle Method.... lol

Nothing better than your body to make a bottle warm. Stick it in an armpit or between your legs lol it warms up real nice!! :)

Hope that helps!

I purchased a warmer that plugs into the cigarette lighter, but I used it once and didn't mess with it again.

Now, I just follow that four hour rule if we're going to be out. If its just a trip to the grocery store, I know the bottle will only be out for an hour or two, so it will be fine. If we're going out all day, I leave one out all the time, since Noah eats about every 3 hours anyways. If the bottle is still out at four hours (which is very rare), I just pitch it and start over.

I've used several methods. One was the 4-hour rule, where I use very hot water to make a bottle, then just use it when it's needed...it's still pretty warm this way. I've also been known to (with Kaylin, not Cady), just take the powder with me and pour warm tap-water in wherever I happen to be. Obviously, in both cases, my girls have gone on to be healthy kids so no ill-effects of either way.

Michele, I tried the body warming way and it just would not warm up for me. Maybe I'm half-dead....

Just a tip...to avoid giving her more gas, you may want to stir the bottle and not shake it. We have a collection of those long red spoons from Dairy Queen that we take for on the go! At home, we use ice tea spoons b/c they are the longest ones that fit in the Dr Brown's bottles.

Another trick for keeping it warm...fill the bottle with really hot water and wrap it in tin foil. My mom did that today and it was warm several hours later!

Judy, I'm fat so maybe I have more heat lol

You could also warm it under the hot water in a bathroom sink anywhere - or get a coffee cup of hot water at a restaraunt, i've done all these things, because I, too, make up batches of formula and keep it in the fridge. My daughter cant have powder so it's good anyway.

Anyway, hope that helps - there are obviously lots of ways! :)
