Joshua has been trying out solids, still on Stage 1, for a few months now. So far, we haven't had any major allergies, with the exception of oatmeal.

My concern is about veggies - he'll tolerate carrots and sweet potatoes, sometimes. He throws a fit if I give anything that is not sweet, like peas, green beans or squash.

His father has a huge aversion to veggies, always has and I'm worried about that passing on to Joshua. I always try to offer them but he really seems to prefer things that are sweet.

Any thoughts??

I don't think you should push it...Just keep trying other things and then go back to the veggies...Maybe it'll just take him a little longer to get over the "sweet tooth"

Honestly at this point, give him the veggies he will eat and keep offering just a little bit of the others... sooner or later he will start eating more and more of the others.

My daughter would only eat fruit for the first few months... so it's fine... just keep offering, he will surprise you! :)

Just keep offering the veggies. It can take any baby up to 20 introductions to willing accept a new flavor/texture. Reflux can have nothing to do with it. Babies in general are opposed to change. Good luck!

Tried green beans again tonight...what a riot! I really need to video tape this next time...the look on the face of pure disgust. But, he did down his combo jar of apples, pears and bananas.

Thanks for all the advice! I'll keep trying!

Have you tried Peas? My GI told me to be careful with Green Beans because they can cause gas... - speaking of gas, I think I'm in for it tonight... my daughter had a half of a Bean burrito tonight!! hahahahaha

the first veggie my daughter really took to was Squash and she ate it up! Then I think it was sweet taters and then peas and then carrots. She did eat one jar of green beans before she stopped eating baby food, though.

You could put some veggie on the spoon and then put a bit of fruit in front of it to get it in. Sometimes that helps. Lesley said it... it really can take a "normal" baby that many times to accept something. You're son is ok!! lol

You just gotta LOVE that "Ewww what the heck did you just put in my mouth" face, huh?? hahahahaha

Good luck and keep us posted!! :) Dont be afraid to mix things!!
