View Full Version : Reintroduction of solids
sixdogssixcats 03-08-2006, 07:37 PM Well ... peaches are not the culprit that cause the six-month long crusty eczema face. Three days of only peaches and no change in Catherine's complexion whatsoever and no red bottom. Still baby smooth, just like a baby ought to be! I offered her peas for dinner tonight, but she only ate a few bites before pitching a screaming fit. She went to bed early, lol!
sarahh 03-08-2006, 07:45 PM Glad to hear that Catherine can now enjoy peaches!!! I'd pitch a hissyfit about peas too.. I HATE peas!!!! LOL
AndrewsMommy 03-08-2006, 07:52 PM Glad to hear peaches are not the culprate!!!!
CadysMommy 03-08-2006, 07:56 PM Well, at least that's one yummy food she can eat! You must be so happy about that. Peas...blach! Neither of my girls will go near them with a 10-foot-pole!
sixdogssixcats 03-08-2006, 07:57 PM Catherine likes peas, lol.
EmmasMommy 03-08-2006, 09:50 PM Glad to hear peaches are safe! Emma loves peas, too! (Well, whole peas b/c she can feed them to herself). Unfortunately, they come out whole. Ick. Sorry to ruin your thread with a poop story. I'm going to stop now.
Yeah for peaches!!!
Cindy 03-09-2006, 10:50 PM Glad to hear she can enjoy peaches! My dd puckers on the first bite every time I give them to her then gobbles the rest greedily!
sixdogssixcats 03-09-2006, 10:53 PM Peas are not going so well. Her bottom is just scarlet after one day of peas but no eczema on her face yet. I thought I detected a little discoloration but I may be imagining it as I am wont to look for things that aren't there. We'll continue with the peas for two more days.
Cindy 03-09-2006, 11:01 PM Uh-oh, at least you'll know what to avoid if she does. Kylie is allergic to peas acc. to the allergy testing but I hadn't given them to her yet. Have you noticed how many baby food mixes have freakin' peas in them????
sixdogssixcats 03-09-2006, 11:04 PM We don't do combos of anything and never have. I buy an organic line of purees, and there's quite an extensive selection of single ingredient chow.
Cindy 03-10-2006, 07:14 AM Pardon me, because you may have posted that before but I don't recall and need any help I can get!! Which line of baby foods do you recommend? I think you mentioned she is at Stage 2? My problem is that a lot of the Stage 2's seem to be combined. I would much rather have singles too for obvious reasons. We are reintroducing everything too after the latest bout of reflux and allergies. Thanks for your help!
sixdogssixcats 03-10-2006, 08:00 AM We use a brand called Mom's Organic Choice. I get it at a regular, albeit somewhat upscale, grocery store called H-E-B, which is only in south and central Texas (which may be were you are also, Cindy?). It's also thicker in texture than Gerber. Not lumpier, just thicker, like it has less water in it. Catherine loves the stuff.
18 varieties, and most of them are single ingredient.
Cindy 03-10-2006, 08:05 AM Hey, we have HEB-even here in deep east Texas! Small town shopping is challenging. Thanks! I am going to check this out because 18 varieties is a whole lot more than I have found in any other brand. Kylie is allergic to peas and potatos and they are in everything.........
sixdogssixcats 03-10-2006, 08:10 AM Cindy ... I do have to say, because we have an HEB on every street corner (it's headquartered here in San Antonio), that the smaller stores probably won't carry as much variety. Some of the veggie concoctions have peas in them, but I don't think any of them have potatoes (I assume you mean white potatoes as sweet potatoes are an entirely different vegetable).
They also don't make any "desserts" or anything else with sugar in it.
Cindy 03-10-2006, 10:39 AM Good point-because ours is small. Headed there for groceries anyway. She's allergic to potatoes and our trial with sweet potatoes was terrible but I'll try them again later. Thanks for the information, it's worth a look-see!
