Okay so I told the Dr about Richard not being able to eat solids anymore. He starts gagging like he is choking and throws up! Even things like bannanas and avacado (which was the only green thing he would eat). So the dr was actually more worried than I was (which is wierd), and asked if I wanted this organization to come out and analyze Richard's eating. I guess it is to see why he can't swallow. If they need to they will do another barium swallow. The doctor doesn't want to do that again since he already had one.

Just as a side, it is like I am in an episode of the twilight zone because the dr actually seemed concerned, then she pushed for this analysis and they called me within the hour. I keep wondering when the alien who ate my dr is going to take over the world.

Okay so basically this organization is going to analyze him and try to find out why he is rejecting solids. So now the question, what exactly is this? Has anyone had anything like this done? Since Richard has always been a good eater I just assume that the gagging is from reflux but the doctor thinks it might be from something else? She seemed really concerned!

Any advice on what to ask the person when she comes to set up the paperwork. I know I should ask questions but don't know what to ask other than, what are they going to do and why?

Daniel has had a few feeding evaluations. They might want you to that details how much food and what kind he's taking and how he handles each thing. Plus those foods he completely refuses. Be prepard to have foods he loves and hates for the eval.

They may look at a whole range of things from his posture during meals to whether or not he plays with his food as well as his swallowing. Hopefully there will be a team with a couple of therapists (PT, ST, maybe OT) and a nutritionist.

Be sure to let us know when it's scheduled. Can't wait to hear more!

I have no experience with this but just wanted to say that I will be anxious to hear what you find out. And, glad your doc is being aggressive in getting it figured out!

Becky did a good job explaining it. Emma recently had a feeding evaluation. They basically wanted to know if she could physically take the food, swallow, etc.

Let us know how it goes.
