Has anyone heard of a g tube for medications? My 2 yr old takes about 16-18 doses of medications/day and is refusing and fighting about taking them. She then refuses to eat because we try and mix them in with food to hide them. GI suggested a g tube so we could get the medication s in there without a fight and then she will not associate food with taking her meds. SHe is suppossed to see a surgeon soon about a Fundo but the GI felt that if they hold off on the fundo then we would have an easier time with the meds everyday to ensure she is getting them 100% of the time.

We use Noah's g-tube for meds and feedings after his fundo, usually they do a fundo with a g-tube but, if was just for meds I guess there would be no chance of aspiration.

I have never heard of placing a gtube for meds only. My sons had their gtubes placed after their fundos. The gtubes were used for both feeds and meds. I was wondering if the fundo will be done and when? Is your gi doc thinking that if the meds are done regularly that the fundo may not need to be done? If so the gtube may be a wise thing to do. I do wish you luck.

A little girl I know has a G tube so they can give her anti-seizure meds. I'm not sure if she's eating solids because she has some brain damage, but she was doing well with a bottle.
We also use Daniel's G tube for his meds since he refuses to swallow anything. Back when he would eat orally, I always questioned if he was getting the correct dose of meds because he'd throw up so much.
