I am sort of wondering about MSPI.

If Parker gets eczema with Milk and constipated with soy, but can eat small amounts of cheese and yogurt is that MSPI.

What else do I look out for?

I have no answer for you. Sorry, Jackson gets a runny nose and watery eyes with milk proteins, and now I know, screaming fits.
Hopefully someone will have some idea!

MSPI is generally outgrown in the first few years of life, it can happen whenever. Until 2, AJ would get a rash from all dairy and super constipated. Now he gets diarrhea if he has cow's milk (which we don't give him), but he can have cheese, etc. We're trying soy again this month hopefully (all depending on potty training, lol) b/c as of last time, he still couldn't even have small amounts of soy in stuff. So, yes, it could be MSPI and he's outgrowing it or it's just mild. If I were you though, I would maybe look into completely removing all that from his diet for at least a month and see what happens. Then reintroduce small amounts and see if you notice a difference in him. Sometimes we miss symptoms b/c we see them so often we don't think of them as being caused by something else.

I agree w/ Jennifer--we've totally eliminated all dairy/soy from B's diet and have seen some positive changes. I do sneak in a bit of dairy and/or soy now and then (cheese, tofu, etc) and it still wreaks havoc.

Our NP told us the same thing--to completely eliminate all the offenders (in our case, dairy and soy) and to occasionally try a small am't to see if she can tolerate it better.

**Bethany was never formally diagnosed with MSPI--she has always reacted w/ constipation and vomiting when given dairy/soy products, so we started the diet at the suggestion of the NP.

Ditto what Jennifer and Mary said. I cut out all dairy and soy from Owen's diet and we see a huge difference. His BM's are not mucousy anymore and he hardly refluxes during the day now.
I tried the other day and had something with dairy and within hours he had mucousy stools again.

So basically if he is fine with the yogurt and cheese he isn't MSPI or only mild?

I should probably have said that he is fine on goat milk- is this part of MSPI or is it just cows milk?

He doesn't have much dairy but I am going to keep an eye out when he has it.

Thanks everyone

Rachel...I do believe that MSPI does not consist of Goat milk??? Correct me if I am wrong...anyone.
I too would eliminate things for awhile and then reintroduce to see if there is a change...
Good luck, keep us posted!

Yeah at first it was a 'yuck' moment but it really isn't bad, smells like real milk. Fresh that is, longlife smells like wet dog- true!

I am definately going to look into it, he had perfect skin yesterday cause I commented to Dan about it and then this morning after breakfast he had the start of an eczema rash!
