OK, ladies ... my baby has baby-smooth skin again for the first time in months and months. The kicker is it's taken a week of only soy formula to get her this way. She's starting to be interested in something other than liquids again (4 Ritz crackers yesterday, 2 so far today). I want to start all over with solids (keep in mind she only eats stage 2 consistency) and figured out what screwed up her skin. Common sense tells me what to do, but this is a rare opportunity to start with a clean slate and I don't want to screw it up. I also can't have her puking all those &%$#@@ doses of medicine more than she already does.

Any guidance from the "been there, done that" set?

No advice here, but I am so glad that Catherine is wanting solids again. That is great. Good luck Lesley!:blob7:

Lesley,
I come from a allergy kido and have done this also. I have learned that the best products that are the most allergy friendly is beechnut. If you look on there website you can look up all there foods and find out what are single ingred. and so forth and what is what. EX- ethan and Emily cant have milk so I look it up and find out what baby foods do not have milk at all in them. We started from there and went on. I noticed with our kiddos skin Milk and eggs were the main culprit. Emily with milk Ethan with eggs (bad). So try that see if it will help. Rember that the biggest allergy things like certain fruits nuts milk eggs soy and try simple and work your way back. If your baby is over 6 months you can get a blood allergy test done. i wish you the best and I hope this helps a little. Oh yeah check some of your baby products also. When I had to elimate almost everything from ethan I also had to read websites about certain skin stuff. Believe it or not some had eggs and milk in them. So not only did I need to internaly get rid of it but externaly also. ok good luck. I hope she stays silky smooth! Beth

Thanks, Beth. Catherine was RAST tested at 7mo for everything under the sun and everything came up negative. I only feed her single ingredient organic baby food, an occasional Yo Baby and lately, a few Ritz crackers. She's never had dairy in any form other than Alimentum or yogurt, never had eggs at all. Never had wheat until a couple of months ago. It makes no sense whatsoever that she reacts like she does.

Lesley apart ffrom the obvious nuts, eggs. I would cut out milk. Thats the main one for us. We can have cheese and yogurt in small amounts but not milk. Hopefully someone else can give a bit better advice.

Good luck
Rachel

What we did with ALexys was started from the beginning again....starting with fruits and veggies (we used fresh cut/cooked but you could use babyfood single ingredients) then moved on to add wheat, and so on...but instead of the usual week or two we waited two full weeks in between foods. That way we knew for sure if it would cause a reaction. She should be okay with soy cooked in foods since she is okay with the soy formula...but i would stay away from straight soy milk, and soy yogurt. Are you going to just keep her on formula for now? I would just stick with it for awhile if her skin has been okay on it. Good luck!!!!!

Just formula for a few more days probably. She has no interest in solids beyond the 4 Ritz crackers she's had in the last two days.

Check out that link. We've had to start all over as well. We're doing pears now and it's going well I think. He got ahold of some BBQ sauce the other day though and he's been off since then. :( We tried carrots before pears and it didn't work. He can have rice and formula right now. It'll be a long road, but it's worth it to keep him feeling good and sleeping etc. He tested positive to wheat, soy, and peas via the patch test, but that was it. He didn't test + on his other tests, but was only tested for 5 things?! When I know he reacts to everything, why only test him for 5 things? Anyways, that was my rant. lol I would do each food for at LEAST a week at a time, I think we're going to go longer. We see the GI again on Thurs so we'll see what he says.
