View Full Version : Turner Method Cranial Synchro
Janette 03-04-2006, 07:56 AM One of the moms at a meeting about school entry for special needs kids raved about The Turner Method/Cranial Synchro and how it made a huge difference in her child's speech. We're talking a special needs child with developmental apraxia talking within a month. Has anyone heard of this method? I can't find anything about it when I google it, but I do know that only a very little number of chiropractors know anything about it and practice it. She also said that the music therapy programme at our music renowned university helped tonnes too.
Sam's Mom 03-04-2006, 10:14 AM Sorry, never heard of it. But I do know that Sam does like music. He is not very social, but I can just tell he enjoys music. I have a radio in his room that is on 24/7 with classical music. when we are downstairs and I am trying to give Ben a break from TV, I put music on--both boys seem to enjoy it. I can see how it would help with special needs kids
AndrewsMommy 03-04-2006, 11:27 AM Sorry Janette..never heard of it...I do hope that you find out some info on it, in the meantime...I'll see if I can
AndrewsMommy 03-04-2006, 11:32 AM When I searched, some "brainwave enhancement" CD's popped up.....
Becky in NM 03-04-2006, 11:38 AM I haven't heard of it either. Can you get contact info from the mom? Did she take her child to a local program?
ElisMom 03-04-2006, 12:52 PM Hmmm, that is interesting. Let us know what you find out!
Leigh 03-05-2006, 03:24 PM Not a clue here either. I have a SLP appointment again this Tuesday and will try to remember to ask this. Where did she get the help? Was it done through an SLP? Let us know what you find out as it sounds fascinating for someone with apraxia talking within a month.
I can see where music would be used though. It is a powerful motivator for learning for many people.
Janette 03-08-2006, 06:07 AM The therapy was done by a chiropractor, and I have no way of tracking down the lady who told me about it. I'll have to see if I can track down the chiro. in the mean time.
AndrewsMommy 03-08-2006, 06:34 AM Let us know what you find out Janette!! I'd be interested to know what this is all about!!!
Janette 03-09-2006, 12:29 PM Hehehe...All I need to do that is to have someone take the kids for a half hour walk so that I can't concentrate on all of the technical stuff that is sure to come up. :smt043
AndrewsMommy 03-09-2006, 12:31 PM Well...get to finding someone to take the kiddies for a walk!!!!!
Janette 03-09-2006, 12:37 PM :rolling:
melba19 03-11-2006, 06:25 PM Janette, if you find any info on this please pass it on. My Brandon has a severe speech delay and auditory processing disorder. The speech is actually testing him for apraxia right now. This sounds really interesting so if you find anything I would appriciate it.

VTC1028 03-14-2006, 07:23 PM The only time I've heard of anyone using cranial synchro was for ear infections. Two friends used it with their babies (in different cities). One loved it, the other thought it was hocus-pocus. I guess it all depends upon who is doing it. I'm not even sure if it was "Turner method" but will check and let you know.
Leigh 03-14-2006, 08:04 PM That would be great Victoria!
Janette is on a vacation right now so she will not be around for a bit. Anything people come up with is going to be appreciated, although I would not be surprised if she came back with all sorts of information on this topic herself!

LOL...A good reminder for me, indeed! I haven't had a chance to check into it, as my niece was in the hospital, then dh sprained his ankle and I'm doing a lot of back and forth running with the boys these days.
