Where do you buy them? The GI said I can only buy it from his office, but it's $32.00 for about 3-4 weeks of it. Reasonable? Not? Anywhere else that is more reasonable?

View Full Version : ??? for those use probiotics... CadysMommy 03-01-2006, 11:25 AM Where do you buy them? The GI said I can only buy it from his office, but it's $32.00 for about 3-4 weeks of it. Reasonable? Not? Anywhere else that is more reasonable? Mary 03-01-2006, 11:57 AM What type? I *think* most are available at natural food stores. You might be able to look online for price comparison...? Just found a website that sells vitamins/probiotics at "wholesale" rates. http://www.vitacost.com/science/hn/Supp/Probiotics.htm I know NOTHING about this site, but you might look to see if what you need is listed here and how much it costs. Good luck! Becky in NM 03-01-2006, 01:46 PM We just bought the baby dophilus at Whole Foods. Can't remember how much we spent, but it wasn't nearly that much! And it lasted a long time. EmmasMommy 03-01-2006, 02:11 PM Emma's Babydophilus is from our pharmacy. They ordered it for us from the company. We had to get this brand b/c it was the only brand I could find that didn't have soy or milk as an added ingredient. It's kind of weird to see on her bottle: Ingredients: 3 billion organisms. Ick! :tongue10: Here's the link if you can't find a brand without milk: http://www.jarrow.com/product.php?prodid=201 (http://www.jarrow.com/product.php?prodid=201) EmmasMommy 03-01-2006, 02:15 PM Oh. It cost us 12 bucks and it will last a month or two, maybe? I'm not good at estimating things. She takes 1/4 tsp. each day. scarlet 03-01-2006, 07:10 PM We have yalult it does have a milk ingrediant but my kids seem OK with it, even though they can't do whoe milk. It is a liquid and they drink it. I dont know if you guys have it. It costs about US$4.00 per week Janette 03-02-2006, 12:46 PM For those of you looking at acidopholus, you'll want to get the one that needs to be refridgerated, as it works better. We were told that at the health food store. I think they said that it has something to do with the little organisms being alive? Does that make sense? CadysMommy 03-02-2006, 01:59 PM The drug store says they don't carry that or the calcium chews. I guess I'll have to get it from the GI first to see what it is, then go looking on-line for them. Thanks for the info. everyone! scarlet 03-02-2006, 05:04 PM Janette you are right. If the organism is refrigerated then it has a better chance of being alive when it gets to the digesive track and then they can work. They can't work if they aren't alive. Basically the "good" bacteria then fights the "bad" bacteria. Just a question do you guys have yakult over there? Or just here? Becky in NM 03-02-2006, 06:32 PM a question do you guys have yakult over there? Or just here? Never heard of it! That would've been a good question for the trivia thread -- LOL! BTW, I just spend about $16.50 for Baby Jarro Dophilus today. CadysMommy 03-02-2006, 06:37 PM I think I'm going to go ahead and order that, myself, Becky. I found it for $14.95 including shipping. WAY better than $32.00!!! scarlet 03-02-2006, 07:50 PM Never heard of it! That would've been a good question for the trivia thread -- LOL! :blob7: LOL Becky. I have wondered cause I have suggested it probably 20times and no one has ever said I know that- I thought it was everywhere. Its very popular here, Asia and Japan, I know cause I have been and seen. Well I will stop recommending it! Leigh 03-02-2006, 08:03 PM Woohoo on the price difference Judy! Did you ask your ped what combo of bacteria he was selling to you? I am so shocked that he would tell you that you could only get it from him. I agree about the cultured live and being refridgerated. Also look for human strains. We are putting Curran on that again big time. Our environmental allergist that we just saw has put Curran on nystatin for a month and the bacteria. I think he is right. Goodness knows this kid lives off of antibiotics..... |
