So I just got back from our appointment with the lactation consultant who is also a MD. She is thinking we have some allergies going on here. Of course cows milk protein being the most common. She told me to cut out all basic dairy- milk, cheese, ice cream, etc. I have been doing that for 4 days and notice no difference in him yet. She said usually you notice a difference in the first few days. She said my next step is to cut out ALL dairy. I have my list of ingredients that contain milk, but what the heck can I eat for meals?? If I go to the store what should I buy mainly fruits and veggies??
I have been eating some soy things but I am wondering if could be sensitive to that since he isn't much better??

Go to the update section, there is a thread "guess what, gi update", and it is exactly what you need to know!
:-) The thread has tons of good information. I also took the liberty of copying the dairy derivatives part of the list (one of the stickies at the top of the "Allergies" board) for the MSPI diet. Here, in full, is the list of ingredients to avoid in foods if you're avoiding all dairy:
Dairy Derivatives:
artificial butter flavor
butter
butter fat
butter oil
buttermilk
casein (casein hydrosylate)
Caseinates (in all forms)
Cheese
Cream
Cottage cheese
Curds
Custard
Ghee
Half & Half
LactalbuminLactalbumin phosphate
Lactoferrin
Lactulose
Milk (in all forms including condensed, derivative, dry, evaporated, goat’smilk, and milk for other animals, low-fat, malted, milkfat, non-fat, powder, protein, skimmed, solids, whole).
Nougat
Naturlose (sweetener derived from whey)
Pudding
Rennet casein
Sour cream
Sour cream solids
Sour milk solids
Tagatose (sweetener derived from whey)
Whey (in all forms)
Yogurt
According to FAAN, These products DO NOT contain milk:
Calcium Lactate
Calcium Stearoyl Lactylate
Cocoa Butter
Cream of Tarter
Lactic Acid (however, lactic acid starter culture may contain milk)
Oleoresin
Sodium lactate
Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate
I'm on the dairy free/soy free diet, too. It's difficult to get used to at first, then it becomes a bit easier as you go along. Good luck!

I have a dairy and soy free foods list if you want it or I have one that is just dairy free. It hasn't been updated lately so you'll have to be sure to always read the ingredients, but it was a lifesaver when we first started this almost 2 years ago.

Thanks guys! I am getting a little more comfortable with the idea. I didn't realize how much dairy I ate! Tomorrow I am going to go to the store and get some dairy free bread and butter.
I haven't been eating my soy milk or soy ice cream because I thought it was bothering him, now I am not sure. He is getting a top tooth so I will wait and then try it again.
Jennifer do you ever go to the Food Allergies/Intolerance Support Group at MilkWorks?? I will be going to the next one. I love that place!!

All the time! lol I didn't get to go this week b/c we were all sick over the weekend, but I've been a regular for 6? mos now. There are several of us who deal w/ reflux, but not many deal w/ it severely. Most of have noticed a pattern between reflux and food intolerances though.
