Has anyone had an experience with their childs mickey being "sucked" in. It's like the digestive system is pulling on it. Possibly parastolstis? Apparently we were told it is very rare. We have found relief by placing water in his stomach. Thank you....Rosie.

Michele, I'm guessing this has to do w/a fundo or other "anti-reflux" surgery that was performed. I'm going to "attempt" to move this thread into the "fundo issues" forum. I think you may get a lot more help there where people who are familiar with those issues will be more likely to see it.

My son did have problems with his button being sucked in and causing him alot of discomfort. He also had problems with dge and the doc thought that may be an issue why this was happening. What they did for my son was to place a bigger button in and put more water in the balloon to keep it in place.

We were lucky though because this problem seemed to go away on its own. He still will have the button suck in on occassion but not like in the past. He would have the button suck in several times a day. One more thing we used to place a foam piece around the button so that it couldnt go in. The foam is what they use on people with colostomy bags. I do hope this helps.

My son had a genie button, and we haven't had any problems with it. (And I moved this thread into the tube feeding forum.)

Hmm, I have heard of this happening (my son has had a handful of Mickey's) I believe that Melba is correct they usually place a larger mickey add more volume to the balloon. What size does he have right now ??

Poor Rosie's confused and having trouble figuring out how to chat and ask questions. I just responded to her PM w/detailed instructions on how to post and view threads. I also linked her back to this thread. Hopefully she sees it.

Mic-key is a button , just what we call it. We got his site measured to see what size of mic-key he needed and he can only handle 4 mls of water. The piece of foam sounds like a great idea, thanx Rosie

thanx for all of your replys on my sons mic-key, Gaeb is wearing a 14fr. 1.5 cm mic-key with 4mls of water. He is super sensitive with too much water and too big of a mic-key. We had his site measured as well. It seems to suck in farther the more the water in the balloon or bigger mic-key. But please any more advice is great. A piece of foam in site or around is also good idea Rosie

I guess I am lucky that we never had to worry about such complications with a button. I have no idea how much water is keeping his in place. Rosie, I sure hope Melanie's suggestion helps.

Sorry about the confusion about the location of your post. As Janette said, we were just trying to put it where it'd get the best responses.
