Oh, Poor little Eli !!! At least you know if he really needs to get something up he can ???!!! I know, I know !!!! :) (nice try)
Noah has puked a couple of times since his last nissen back in April but, I think it's actually food that never went down past the wrap because he brings up more saliva and ooze than anything else.

You know, I think that may be the case with Eli too (most of the time). When it gets stuck on top. He has a hard time getting it up :help: Poor guy.. E brings up saliva and some type of ooze too, what in the HECK is that stuff anyway???

So, you dare as how the older kids are doing ?!!! Brave, Brave woman.....Let's see Noah is finally sleeping now that he is on the Ambien (gotta love it) It is so nice I hate drugging him but, hey I'm desperate. UCLA so does NOT want him on the Ambien so I told them that when they finish their testing and can give us something safer fine, but until then he's getting the drugs I have !!!! :)
Noah's ear is finally better !!! OMG !!!! He will go in next week to have the ear surgiacally cleaned out and some of the soft tissue removed, it's a no biggie around here just an outpatient trip and a day or two out of school. Noah will start his school tutoring next monday with a retired teacher who taught 1st grade for over 18 years !!! She's a Godsend in our eyes. Noah saw the Orthopediac Dr. & Rheumatology this morning, where to start....okay Ortho swears he has never seen such an extreme deformity from flat feet before in a kid !!! Rheum. was awe struck when he took his shoes off !!! So, he is going to be re-fitted for new orthodics (they will go up a little higher) he will start P.T. 1x a week at CHOC & also every day at home. They don't want to do anymore testing for any other problems until after UCLA finishes their stuff. Noah has been full of GAS lately, he always is passing wind and stinky stink, so I've invested in those really strong bottle of body spray from Bath & Body Works and I carry them in my purse. Cause, I swear he farts right before someone is about to come in the room & I so do not want them to think it's me :) So, I spray that stuff all the time !!! Noah is down about 2lbs right now, no big suprise he's always uo down up down. He has been having a pretty good week this week, last week sucked this week so far not too bad !!!!

LOLOLOL E is definitely ours too, I invision this large fat man sitting on my couch when I am 60. Very scary. I can't picture someone else ever putting up him and his creaks and moans.

:) Seriously !!! Noah's little body is already like an old man too !!! He is so not living here his entire life unless I get a good air filtration system !!! I spent $11.00 today at Bath & Body Works buying more of those little spray bottles :)

Okay so how is it that Eli can puke past his fundo???? How is it that Chelsea can reflux out of control but not vomit?? I am not necessarily complaining about this, but when she had the stomach flu a little while back, all she did was retch.

Katy, thanks for the update on Noah, I have been wondering. So do you mind sharing exactly what UCLA is doing?

We go there on March 9th for Gavin. I am trying to get them to make a back to back appt for Chelsea then too. She has started having a lot of asthma attacks again. She is SO sick right now with some bad bug, and they never got this bad when we know the fundo was working. She has been sick since November with just a few weeks break all together ever since. disgust I am so DONE with being sick!

I am so over the top in my mind with reflux with the two of mine. Just want to scream! At least Gavin is drinking his neocate, otherwise known as more expensive than gold!

Little old man? That was Evan's nick name for the first year or two, b/c he really looked like a little old man from the time he was born.

We're still dealing with night time vomits occasionally, but we never know when they'll hit. Pizza, bologna, etc. are a definite no-no from mid-afternoon on! Evan is eating better again this week, and is still working at learning to feed himself a whole meal. He'd definitely starve if left to feed himself 100% We'll be working at toilet training for a long time yet. He's learning to ride a 2-wheeler with training wheels and to print his name. The school board was out to see him at his pre-school yesterday regarding school entry in the fall. They were amazed at how well he was doing, considering where we've come from. We're getting a few more words now too, including the ends of nursery rhymes and a few numbers and colours. This kid is going to make it!

Oh, Janette, pizza is poor Elis forbidden fruit. The poor little guy loves pizza and we give in probably once a week and I tell ya it makes him so sick. He has never made it through pizza successfully.... OK, I am sad now...

CARLA- Elis surgeon was realy great, he bragged and I didn't believe him but heard so many great things about him. He said "A successful fundo will keep the reflux and food down but will allow vomiting if absolutely necessary" well, he was right. Eli has to work really hard if he wants to get something up, but he can do it when he has to that is for sure, of course he was a huge puker before surgery. I am still unsure if it is below or above the wrap for the most part. He probably pukes once or twice a week.

Carla,
UCLA has been very good to us. We don't even have to wait for an appointment for the other Dept's there anymore. Dr. Amendt walks us to them :) He is a very very nice man, very intelligent as well. Right now Noah is scheduled for an endoscopy with Dr. Amendt as he wants to see Noah's wrap himself so he knows where we are now and that way when we need surgery again he will have a better idea of where the problems are. He says Noah is the only kid he has ever met with 4 fundos, and he is interested in his Vagal nerve damage as well, Noah's was cut in half "on accident" during is 2nd fundo. So he also wants to do a bunch of nerve testing as well as motility studies (which he says they usually don't do in small kids) He also is following up constantly with the Neuro Dept. making sure they are doing the things he wanted done. He also is placing Noah's Bravo (beings CHOCS didn't work) He has also been trying some trial medications with Noah for his loose stools and blood sugars. So we couldn't be more thrilled with him. He shows an absolute interest in Noahs care and can see all of the things we are talking about.

What a relief Katy. I hope he will be the same relief for us. I am beyond done right now with all this stuff, it has been a VERY bad week.

Erin, we were told that too by our surgeon, so the question is has she ever "really needed" to vomit or can she just not do it period. I suppose it doesn't make a difference to me, I don't really want her to!!!

ElisMom

Exactly, we didn't want Eli too either, but I darn glad now that he can if he absolutely has too, I think it is uncommon, but then I have the worry, is it to loose? Or, will it get loose over time because right now he is wonderful... I just hope it lasts, we shall see....

The retching and occasional vomit may be making it too loose, but if he is doing fine there is nothing to worry about! Maybe it just works right on him--meaning it is the way a normal LES should be. My daughter's just doesn't really work at all! Meaning it loosens a bit and stops holding stuff down, it doesn't seem to have any ability on its own. Maybe low tone. MMMMMM!

We believe that was E before surgery, the technicians commented that the top of his tummy was very wide, like it didn't even close off.

Hello my Gaeb is 4 now and he has had the fundo and g-tube. He still is not tolerating most feeds, super sensitive, we have to gravity drip into him real slow. If he eats a little of something which is usaully fruit then I cant hook him up. He will try to vomit and get reall sick.I can't give him the amount in a day they want me to cause he gets way to sick. They have tried every formula out there to see if he can handle one better. He gets sick all the time and they say has asthma. We are going to Edmonton in April to see a Pulmanary Doctor.(hopefully I spelled that right). Thanx for letting me share Rosie

Adam is 5 now, I wrote a long vent in the update board! He's doing well with his reflux since his dose of prevacid was increased and gaining weight nicely now that I've "convinced" his school that he NEEDS TO BE FED every day!! No luck really in getting him to self-feed. we're "stuck" at the fork-mashed stage. He will eat a couple of bites of many different things but no where near enough to sustain him.

ElisMom

That is good news that he is gaining weight. I am sure it is frustrating sending them off to school when they don't have time to help him with eating.

We homeschool so that will be a plus for us when it comes school time, our son is 3 and I had dreaded that day of sending him to school with all his issues.
