I've noticed that a few of us on the boards either have kids with kidney issues (namely reflux) or have kidney reflux in our families.
I wonder if there's a link between kidney reflux and GERD?
 So, of course, I voted for the wrong choice. Perhaps I shouldn't be allowed to create polls anymore...

Ah, Mary, we all make mistakes! It's okay!
As far as kidney reflux, I don't know a single person in my entire family with kidney issues. Cady's fine as far as her kidneys go.

I voted no to both. My mom has a weakened bladder, but that's more related to her age and to having given birth to 3 kids.

Emma has kidney issues (frequent/severe UTI infections) and possible kidney reflux (Grade 3) as the scan was difficult to interpret (lovely). The nephrologist does not want to pursue further testing in hopes that she will outgrow it. She is on a daily antibiotic to keep future infections at bay. If she gets another infection in the next six months he will address more testing.
Unfortunately, for Emma...she has two types of reflux - acid and kidney! :(

That's why I wonder if the two are related. :-( I thought perhaps one reflux could be related to another...?

Interesting theory. I know Katy (raising angels) has a daughter with kidney reflux.

Hmm.. I don't think I know what kidney reflux is, but dh has kidney problems in his family. And in our 20 week ultrasound one of Jackson's kidneys was enlarged. Hmm.... interesting.

I too voted no, but at the rate we are going, I guess there could always be a possibility that he has something else I am unaware of:(
Not to my awareness does anyone in the family or my kids have Kidney issues

That's very interesting, as Zach had prenatal Hydronephrosis. He had an ultrasound after birth and it corrected on it's own...I'm told.

Sorry, I don't know anything about this.
A women that had first contacted us when we were not sure of what was wrong with Shae-Lynne (she lives about 1/2 away from me and had contributed her story to Life on the Reflux Roller Coaster) had a second child that had the kidney reflux.
One time when Roni and Shae came to visit this women came to meet them and after awhile I contacted her to see how her child (with reflux) was doing and she told me about her newborn, (her second child) was reflux free, but had been born with the kidney reflux. That is the first I ever heard of it.
