Hi NIcki! I heard that ABA works great for some kids with Austism. Please keep me update on how it works with your daughter.

May I ask what symptoms your daughter has that makes them think she may be autistic? And what is ABA?

My middle son and youngest sons have sensory issues. It is not a lot of fun to deal with. My eldest was so severely speech and language delayed that I kept hearing he was Aspergers or mild Autistic and he is not. He just suffers still from speech and language delays.

How old is your daughter again?

ok heres my story my daughter is 2 years she didnt walk until 18 months doc told us about EI for my daughter. Her scores with everything came out very low from EI. she tip-toe walks, shakes all day while looking at toys, things that spin etc. She has routines if we change then she has bad tantrums. she doesnt play with toys properly. she likes to be by herself and not make eye contact when people are around she get's anxious. she went from sleeping well to getting up in middle of night screaming and hard time falling back asleep to hard time falling asleep at night. she doesnt point or wave bye-bye doesnt talk at all. she use to say mama and dada but stopped use to wave bye-bye but stopped. bites on things all day including her shirts and soaks them. bites on all toys to point i have to take them away in fear she will swallow the plastic. she has to do certain things during day like look at certain parts of chairs and go around table million of times. she could care less if i am playing with her brother. on top of that i have a 1 year old who has fine motor and motor trouble, reflux and sensory issues and the worst tantrums ever and he is very strong willed. afraid of noises paranoid hates clothes wont eat well for us. they want to do a PT eval cause he wont stand with us helping him walk he bends his knees hates socks shoes etc throws big tantrums if we put them on him. he hates any noises to the point if he hears one he will scream and not eat. I am going crazy between everything going on. the dev pedi they have i cant stand and am ready to find a new doc. they give me run-around.

not to keep responding sorry everyone but i wanted to add i am seeing my family doc cause i am a lot like my daughter and have some of her traits and i saw some adults get diagnosed with autism find out their kids have it and have some symptoms so i am gonna find out if it is genetic. i may not have it as severe as my daughter but i have some of her traits and did when i was smaller.

I'm sorry that you're having such a tough time with your kids, Nicki, and that you have to go through this testing too! I have an as yet undiagnosed special needs child. He'll be 4 at the end of March, only starting walking at 2 years and 5 months, and still doesn't speak much at all. He has GERD, DGE, and major sensory issues. You may also wish to check out the sensory integration forum.
