They ddidn't come in as dark in these pics, but they were at my grandma's today and they just got home, Gabby *right pic* looked as white as a ghost and looked like she had 2 black eyes. Grace wasn't as bad, but still looked like two black eyes. They had these sun chips *had them last Friday as well* and last Friday their behavior was HORRIBLE! Grace actually peed in her pants when we got home, on purpose! All of you allergy experienced, wondered if this is worth looking into.

I have chronic allergic shiners, but mine are from airborne allergens, not foods. I can't really tell from the pics. Lots and lots of things can cause dark circles, though. Kaylin gets them if she doesn't drink enough during the day. Cady gets them if she doesn't nap enough. I guess I wasn't much help. Allergies suck, to say the least, so I hope your girls don't have them.

Noah has dark circles most of the time, but like Judy said, I'm not sure if its due to the fact that he doesn't drink enough, doesn't sleep enough, or his "suspected" MSPI. Is there an odd ingredient in the chips that they don't have a lot at home? I hope you figure it out, Emily. Your girls are adorable!

I can not tell from the pics either, but if they show up after eating a certain food each time then I would say yes. Curran still has them and all he has right now is wheat again. Were there any other signs of a reaction like runny nose or eyes, sneezing? The peeing in the pants often happens with allergies too, particularly with milk.

All you have to do to take a peek at allergic shiners is to look at Noah's picture from Maggie. Those seem fairly classic to me. They can be much darker like the ones Curran usually gets that make him look like he has black eyes or is a raccoon.

Other things do cause them such as lack of sleep, stress, etc. as the others have said, but you have to look at the overall picture and play investigator. If it has happened twice with sunchips then look at the ingredients and figure out how to separate it out and do a trial of it. It has been a few months since we have had sunchips in the house so I can not take a peek right away to see the list.

Trey and Catherine get them all the time from airborne allergens.

I was going to post a few pictures of Noah when he's extra dark, but I noticed my sig pic is a good example. lol. I'm so used to it, that I hardly notice it.

Emma has them, too. Like Maggie said - the doc's aren't sure what is causing them. I have horrible airborne allergies, so she probably takes after me. :(

You, too, Amanda? I'm allergic to everything under the sun, literally...even birds. Kaylin's been having a chronically stuffy nose and those allergic shiners for a few months now. I'm waiting until I take her to the ped. for her 6-year well-child-check in May to discuss using Zyrtec to see if that helps her. I so didn't want these evil allergies to reach my kids, but so far, it's not looking good for either of them.

Yep. I'm horrible the whole year long. In the summer/spring I'm allergic to freshly cut grass, ragweed, and pollen. In the winter/fall I'm allergic to mold and pine trees.

I'm also allergic to smoke, dust, and long haired cats.

I'm on Singulair, Clarinex, and Albuterol. I have asthma too.

I was on allergy shots up until I was 18 years old. Allergies stink. Will Kaylin have to have testing done?

I won't let them test her at such a young age. They're usually not accurate and allergies can come and go throughout her younger years here. I'd rather do a trial of an allergy med first to see if that helps her. Then, if it doesn't, we'll see where we go after that.

My oldest gets them all of the time. A cold front is coming through Texas today and yep, here come the dark circles. She has been through almost every allergy med with no improvement so now the shots. My youngest is now getting them and is heading in her sister's path so off to the allergist we go next week. I'm not sure what they can do with a 6 month old but there has to be something. I know Zyrtec can be started at 6 months.
Good luck with the hunt for isolating the food allergy. Sunchips have lots of natural grains in them....hmmmm. I found my oldest was allergic to chicken and this after she had chicken nuggets just about every other day! I had no idea peeing in the pants is a sign of milk allergy. Seeing that I still have a lot to learn!!
